Freese Collection Concert

Organist Faythe Freese approached me and choreographers Cornelius Carter and Rita Snyder about the prospect of creating an evening of music and dance to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Holtkamp Organ Concert in the Moody Music Concert Hall on UA's campus. Faythe had selected music for the event and the three choreographers selected works they were interested in working on. I chose "Lirio e amapalo" as I was drawn to its steady slow progression which reminded me of a blooming flower, in addition to "Blithely Breezing Along" for its sharp contrast in quick and playful rhythms and melodies. An ensemble of 22 dancers was used in various groupings to weave the various movement ideas together.
